Which in dash NAV

I would look for one with Garmin software. However you may be $ ahead to just buy a good audio deck and use an outboard GPS as GPS tech advances all the time. This way it is less cost to upgrade the GPS down the road. As long as the deck you choose has USB/ipod capability it should be good for a while.
 
if you have an iphone, the pioneer avh8400bh has advanced app mode where you can hook up your phone and run motionx gps as well as a few other apps right on the screen

Motion x GPS DRIVE to be precise. So Far Motion X GPS doesn't have adv app support. The 8400 is a pretty cool head unit. One thing to point out is that if the nav app you have on the phone relies on cellular data to cache maps and directions then you wont have nav in areas without coverage. This is a moving target as a number of apps have on-board mapping but dont yet support AAM to the head unit.

I decided on a Pioneer AVIC-x940BT. It works great, functionally. However, there is a faint whine or whistle when the engine is on. My techy friend called it found loop interference. Does anybody know what causes that and how to get rid of it?
