Rev, I'm pretty new here so I don't have many tips on where to go and haven't even been out much myself. Traildamage.com is my preferred site for wheeling locations and there are usually plenty of side trails and camping spots off most of those runs. I might be up for a trip on sunday- PM me. Might decide last minute to do an overnight on Medano pass with some people from here http://threeg4runners.freeforums.org/index.php, being a current 4runner owner too.

I've been browsing traildamage and trying to figure out how to load the topo maps onto my garmin nuvi. That's how I stumbled on the locations I scouted this last Sunday.

A Sunday trip would definitely work. Can't do an overnight this weekend but would like to soon. I'm currently spareless as i found a un-pluggable hole yesterday, but the replacement will hopefully be here and mounted by Saturday. I'll pm you.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with the guy that started this thread (about 70% sure): http://threeg4runners.freeforums.org/medano-pass-t1289.html
I know several members from that site, but not him- they have all been great guys.
Anyone here is welcome to tag along. Doesn't promise to be any technical offroading, but the dunes are always a nice sight...
I'm not armored enough yet without skids or sliders, but if anyone is interested in hitting blanca peak on sunday, I will go as far as possible and hike/spot the rest of the way.

If I were to meet up Sunday, would 8:30am or so be good? Or is it a bit far for a day trip?

Would love to make it work if you guys wouldn't mind helping a wheeling virgin pop that cherry.

from springs it's probably a 3hr drive to the trail one way- maybe a bit too far for a day trip. i'm not sure exactly where we'll be camping sat night. If you wanted to try blanca peak, i could meet you there but i wouldn't be able to go past the first obstacle without sliders (not sure if there's snow on any of the trail...), so unless someone else comes i could spot you all the way up but you'd be a solo rig which i never like. i suppose i'd be at the start of the trail in case of an emergency.

Medano itself is not a "wheeling" trail. i'm pretty sure a rav4 could do the whole thing. i'll pm you my number and you can let me know what you decide.

Gotchya. Guess I should have read that 4runner thread more closely. I was thinking some guys were running Blanca Peak. I'm with ya on not going alone.

Got your PM, though. We'll have to link up and get out somewhere soon.
