So looks like my converter just packed it in, anyone know where I could get one locally? I'm going to squamish this weekend and would like to have a stereo for it. Otherwise I may be driven insane by squeaks and rattles :bang:

I've got a couple extra ones kicking around but I'm not home for another 10 days or so. If you still need one around that time let me know.
Awesome I might do that. Think I would get away with running it off the first battery just for the trip?

One of those crappy tire solar panels hooked to the 12v pole will help a TON if you have one. They go on sale for 10 bucks all the time, just zap strap it in front of the wind shield.

Did that for my 42, started like I'd just pulled it off the charger every time.

But yeah, you can do the low side tap for a short time, just switch the batteries around every month if you do. (and put a solar panel on...)

Cool, thanks. I'll probably just hook it to the 12v side for the weekend and figure out my actual options when I get home. As I am a little out of time now

If you are really in a rush, these guys deliver next day with a flat $8 shipping charge: www.digikey.ca We use them all the time at work for quick electronics/electrical parts. Not sure how many watts you need or what you want to spend, but maybe something like this would work: http://www.digikey.ca/product-detail/en/B40SR12424A/941-1650-ND/3995537

I like your suggestion about not exceeding the amount of out put of the alternator, so put me down for one of those little units.

And many thanks for picking up that GPS for me and down loading the maps ..
