I DID push my luck, drove it for over a year and a half like I stole it, the whole time with a crapped HG....it finally blew when the block cracked goin 80 up the Conejo grade one morning on my way to work. Puffed out some smoke, gagged for a second, got back up to 60 (still going up the grade) and drove it another 15 miles.
Shaved .020 off the deck and dropped in a new long block, that was 100K ago.
it's all good. These motors are designed to run in outback Oz and Africa....it gets hot there right?
