Just wondering where the fine folks from Canada shop for parts for their truck? (besides the dealer) I'm having a hard time finding a lower timing cover gasket and front crankshaft seal. I'm not willing to pay $110+tax at the dealer for those items. Thats ridiculous! My '83 bmw was cheaper to shop for. After undertaking this project I get the feeling that toyota doesn't want me to own an older truck. Prices are F******* crazy. I wish I had not bought this truck. Sorry for the rant, just trying to blow off some steam. Thanks in advance for info.

Where are you located? If you are close to the border, you could have stuff shipped to a parcel service place just across the line, or find someone who is happy to ship USPS rather than UPS. I'm sure there are good sources on our side too, but I've gotten in the habit of planning ahead and getting batches of stuff when I'm south, be they used from Mudders or new from one of the vendors in good standing here.

Try to find a local forum to check in on if you haven't. In Alberta this one is starting to pick up: http://forum.ct4wd.com/index.php

napa , lordco , westcan . b.c bearing .

is it a paper gasket or rubber ? you can just make one if its paper . seals have seal numbers , you can order them from parts stores for cheap .

I have done online shopping in the US with good success. Just be careful that you avoid using UPS for shipping. They ding you with outrageous brokerage fees when your package shows up.

And they hold it hostage until you cough up the ransom.

I will add that I like to buy Canadian if possible, but sometimes the saving are too good to ignore.
