Sorry to hear about your VW infection Ryan! I couldn't afford maintaining a VW, so I bought an 80 series that I wheel, instead.

it's not about the vw, it's about the boat it affords me the time and energy to build.

As for 80's, yeah, I had that infection for a month...seemed the only cure was either a massive, near lethal dose of money or amputation....


I'll have another cruiser before too long. Something with a bit better tow rating, which likely means, not powered by anything made by toyota...

I call bulls&^t, 1200 K on a tank, my new to me little volski gets around 750.

Completely understand the not wanting to wrench on my own junk, leaves more time to drink beer...

Google "Ventectomy" and then do it. It will help increase tank capacity by venting the void at the top of the tank. I did it to the 's car and we get 1000km driving with a lead foot. I bet if I were careful 1200km would be attainable.

Yeah I actually chickened out at 1100 and put fuel in. Was still reading "20" on the freaky german gauge, but I don't really want to find out where empty really is.
At any rate, 61mpg. I can live with that.

Course, 15 years of sitting behind a 3b has trained me to drive like a granny, and I think speeding is retarded, so I always get better mileage than others in a similar car.
