A squeak just started coming out of my driver front wheel somewhere. I don’t think it’s break related because it keeps going when brakes are applied. Also only happens when I’ve been driving for a bit. Do needle bearings squeak when they’re dry? I went through a couple small stretches of water this weekend. Thanks guys

Oh gosh, I have the same issue on mine develop recently too. Driver front. I believe mine is because I need new brakes (which I know I do) but I could be wrong. Is your CV axle boot torn by any chance?

Check to make sure your dust shield isn't slightly bent and rubbing against the rotor.

My brake pads seem to be fine and I don't think the CVs are torn. I'll check the dust shield when I'm in there.

im still trying to figure it out as I have the same thing. I just cant figure out where my squeal is coming from. But it sounds just like that. I have replaced bearings on both fronts. The rotors and pads look great on the front. My next step is to replace the rear rotors and pads.

I should have taken a picture yesterday. I've recently had a squeak on my passenger side front tire.

Mine was from a rock getting lodged near the dust shield close to the brake caliper. The rock had bent the dust shield so badly that it was pulled back about an inch from where it should have been and put a bend in the dust shield that was ever so slightly touching the inside edge of the rotor. My squeak was only happening when I turned the wheel to the right.

The rock was nowhere to be found. Just bent the dust shield back to a reasonable shape and no more squeak.

Come to think of it, my squeaking started after my camping trip down a long HOV trail. Definitely worth checking out. Thanks for sharing!

Well turns out my squeak was from this little “anti-squeal” spring. It was rubbing on the rotor and almost wore all the way through.

I thought it was the needle bearings and ended up going through the entire process of greasing them before even looking at the caliper:clap:

Check the easy stuff first folks

Just want to say, I think I found my wheel squeak. While driving and hearing the squeak I would hit the brakes and slow down, but the squeak was still constant with every wheel revolution. It did not go away. Then while driving while hearing the squeak, I slowly started to lift the emergency brake and the squeak went away. I continued to try this and it went away every time I lifted the emergency brake handle.

Is your's coming from the rear then?

For some reason even after taking my anti squeal spring out, my squeak is still there at low speeds... going to keep hunting I guess

This is what my squeak sounded like on the rear driver's side — ended up needing the rotor resurfaced and it took care of it.
