I am lookinf for some advice on sourcing some cost effective wheel dollies that will hold the weight of my fat pig on 37 x 12's. I want to slide the cruiser around my garage shop and stick it to the wall to make space. I have seen a bunch on ebay but don't know if they are crap or not.

Any help would be great.

I have a set from Harbor Freight: they're craptastic. You can move a vehicle around on my (level, clean) shop floor- if you have a couple of buddies to help. The wheel axle holes are not centered, so they don't like to roll with a lot of weight on them. I've used good ones, one guy can easily move a heavy vehicle. The HF ones work, but expect the usual PITA factor common with many Chinese tools.

n2666s- go turn one of yours over and spin a caster, look at the edge and see if they look out of round as they spin. Maybe they've gotten better since I got mine ~4 years ago.

I am definetely looking for a set that will allow me to move the 55 by myself. Not too many local folk around my area going to come over to help me move the thing when I need. Pretty quiet group of folk in my town.,,,
I will go look at HF now.

Are these the ones you purchased? I have no idea what my pig weighs but I know it is a lot.

Each dolly has four swivel casters to hold up to 1000 lbs.

Those are the ones I have. They went on sale for something like $80, so I wasn't too upset about them not working perfectly. (Actually, I've come to expect that from HF.)

I just found some stronger looking ones at Northern Tool. Might go that way. They are apperently set up for 200lb ber wheel. Might have better luck with them. I am afraid my 55 is way heavy. The HF folks said the casters are rubber compound and may have problems with the weight of my junk.

I am going to keep looking.
 
Goebs; my casters are steel and round nice heavy duty stuff; I was surprised they turned out as well as they did BUT any irregularity on the floor will make them "hang up".............there seems to be a lot of variation on the stuff out of HF even with the same model numbers............have seen casters on the same model number with 1/4 inch variation and out of round as "Spike" said...........just have to look at things closely before you purchase them....HTH

Mine are steel wheels, no rubber.

I made mine out of a bunch of scrap angle.I roll my 68 Mustang around the garage on them.They came in handy durring my body swap too :D

Spike 100% agree with you:steer: also had the sales person at HF take them out of the box before I bought them to make sure they were complete and the casters were the same as on the floor model........went through 3 sets to pick out the best one.......had a bad experience with a blasting cabinet I bought from HF a few years back when i got home..70 miles away and opened the box it was missing the rubbber gaskets:mad:.....HF did not sell gaskets individually so had to wait a few weeks till they got a set in:bang: HTH

avoid the harbor freight ones. they were great with my stock 45 until i put the drivetrain in. now it's a bitch to move it. also, you barely drop a rig into them and they bend.
