I just wanted to put this out in case somebody runs into this issue like I did. My first time working on GX470 and Toyota in general so I think it may not be a bad idea to document the issue for poor fellas like myself...

I was replacing CV axles on my 03GX470 when I noticed pieces of metal spring all over inside the wheel bearing so I figured it is good time to replace the wheel bearing seal. Head out to nearest AZ and they produce supposedly the correct seal for just around $7. I head back home thinking it was an easy fix but no luck... I couldn't beat it in and damaged it in a process. Then I double checked the old seal and it was a different type all together. So I call local Lexus dealer and they don't have it in stock but give me a part number to call Toyota dealer. I got one from Toyota but when I got home and opened the bag it turned out to be exact same one that I got from AZ (but cost 4x$!!!). Now it is Saturday night and I'm getting rather irate since I really wanted to finish putting damn thing together before Monday and I don't want to special order anything.

So... after some research turns out that the part number you need is Toyota 90316-A0001 (90316A0001 - Seal. Oil (for front axle hub left); oil (for front axle hub right) - Genuine Toyota Part - https://parts.toyota.com/p/toyota__/SEAL/63382862/90316A0001.html) or otherwise known as National 710573

Here's O'Reilly product page https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...el-seal/710573/2551830?fitAttr_10039=Show All

You can also get it from AZ as well.. just look for same part number. Luckily in my case local NAPA store had them in stock but their part number is different NOS 28739 (https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NOS28739?impressionRank=1&vehicleAddPDP=true).

Now with part in my hands I was looking to quick wrap up on the front end job but having never replaced the wheel bearing seal before (and broken one in a process) I've read that you need a special tool to install it. I got a loaner one from AZ down the street but... the biggest disk was still too small to properly drive this in place. I've seen on forums that some guy cut one out from the plywood but I was too lazy and figured out that Axle dust cap (the one from the outside) perfectly fits the seal so used it to beat it in place with the rubber mallet.

Bottom line... don't trust the retail store vehicle part filter because it will end up producing the wrong part number in this case and use the part number I've listed above.
