Wheel Arch Removal

Can you remove the wheel arches and brackets completely? I have a KZJ78 with wheel arches in rough shape. I know that there are sheet metal/pop rivet brackets under them. Any reason you can't just delete them, brackets and all?

No reason, unless you weld the holes closed it will look bad, my opinion.
