Make sure you 40 guys post up your plans so the rest of us can be on stand by with tow ropes and extra gas to come and save your butts.

I wouldn't be talking much there buddy...even your photo on the officers page of the club website has you with a broken part in your hand...and I don't think it's from a 40

you can give me hell about having a carburetor on the next trail ride. It's gonna be rough, I'm a fuel injection kinda guy, so I just don't know much about old tech........ticka-ticka-ticka.......:grinpimp:

Well, first recommendation is if you have a stock carb, get a carb kit from NAPA for it and rebuild it....that thing has been sitting around...I would clean it up and you should have no problems. If you need to take the butterfly valves off, I have the brass screws to put them back! No charge :D

I also have the carb from my 40 that I swapped with the troll hole one, I rebuilt the original so I know its working...if you need to borrow it while you build yours or need to get it running let me know.

Hate to admit this, but I've rebuilt a few carburetors in my life. I think I will have to try to rebuild the stocker first. It doesn't have all the 80's spaghetti vacuum lines that the FJ60's seem to have, and I just like stock stuff. I don't care about keeping it original toyota, I just hate special parts because they are harder to get when you are broke down in BFE.

The guy was supposed to call me back on saturday and let me know if he found the title, and if not he was going to the DMV monday to file for a lost title. Never heard from him so I assume he will be at the DMV monday.

The carb for the 40 is not hard to rebuild, it has 3 layers, just keep everything in order like you did your transmission and you can get it done in a couple of hours....unless your have a stuck butterfly like me...it took me a good 2 weeks to find those stupid brass screws...I had to buy in bulk...so I have extra...fo sure.

If you need help rebuilding your carb let me know...I can give a hand...or just mentor...;p

Troll hole carbs are "exactly the same as stock", but does not have all the other hose endings like the 80's...so you can get a carb kit for it just like a you would for a stock...I don't think you can get them for $175 like I did...he went up in price.

Finally got my cruiser to it's new home. Claire and I started cleaning it up today. I'm just amazed at how unmolested it is. Owner had everything down to some factory touch up paint. All the factory rims with hubcaps, and the 1978 owners manual. He even had two factory service manuals to go with it!

I'm one ambulance door hinge short of being able to put on my hard top. Anyone got an extra? I've got a PM sent into Mark's offroad, just thought I would check with my locals. :D

Congrats on finally getting your 40 home, you are now officially out of the Fuel Injection cool aid gang. I don't have any extra hinges, put a little blurb in "Rising Sun" they are pretty good guys at helping fellow LC's out. Good luck:cheers:
