Ok to make a long story short I am buying back my rolled FJ from Toyota and want to sell it at a small profit. Enough to pay for my new Gobi rack and some lights.

Larry owner of Dirty Parts in Culver City is interested but is being a bit coy about what he wants offer (just being a businessman)

I'm just asking you guys for some straight up advice. Most of you guys have seen the pics. It was a very slow roll and I am 99% sure the frame is straight but I will have it measured to be sure.
I drove it back 6 miles to camp and it steers straight.

The engine has 13005 miles on it and was run with Redline for 12505 miles with K&N filter. Same synthetic treatment for the diffs. The engine runs perfect. The vehicle now has 5 stock wheels and tires with 500 miles on them I bought from a friend. (Selling the brand new stockers on Ebay)
The suspension is new as I switched out my Donahoes and OME's for the original after 200 miles and just reinstalled the new stock parts.
The seats front and rear are also brand new.
I had leather in the rolled FJ and switched them out.

So any way this thing could be parted out or sold to someone whole. I'm hoping to get $7000.00 for it, is that realistic?

Seems a bit on the high side if you ask me. What's the buy back price? The insurance co's have pretty good estimates on salvage values but you can normally negotiated that down some

I’ve bought a couple of salvage trucks over the years from others who bought back and the prices where more attractive.

Bummer about the truck but as long as nobody got hurt that's all the matters.

Good luck
Brian

being that they are newer and most of the drivetrain is the same as a 4runner parting it for 7k would be difficult.

It will be a few years before people are looking for anthing other than body pannels for front and rear collisions...

I have another idea... bend the a piller back throw a windshield in it, exocage it and wheel the snot out of it........

If I had a place to keep it I would sawsall the roof off, cage it amd wheel the snot out of it.
Thanks for the insight guys.

I will gladly let you store it at my house as long as I get some usage privilages.... anyone say Fj buggie....

you can park it at my house.

I'd bet you can find way more than 7 grand worth of stuff if you start piece mealing it, but that's a huge hassle, and you'd be left with a carcass.

one time deal, be gone....I don't think 7 grand is too much, I spent close to that on my 80's motor 5 years ago.

some formula guy or a crawler would snatch that up quick I bet. lockers, switches, electrical...easy 7 grand.

plastic gas tank too right?

Yep. Plastic gas tank. I don't mind parting it out because I actually want the half shafts/drive shaft and CV joints. The same motor with 40,000 miles are going for $2,000. I think the motor is worth close to $3,500. I'll let you know how it all works out.

As with selling anything used it depends on finding the right buyer. You could probably do ok if you have the ability to be patient and don't need the money fast. As a rule a good condition drive train such as yours will be worth more as parts than a whole carcass.

Again glad to hear all were ok. I am surprised the a pillar caved that much with such a slow speed roll. Toyota usually makes stronger body support than that in my experience. Good luck.

Thanks Mo. Although it was a slow roll to start with, we rolled straight over the front gained quite a bit of momentum and did several more barrel rolls before coming to rest with 3 flat tires on a still very steep decline. My passengers were about 6' tall and we all just held on and stayed down real low. Although the pillar does look bad from the outside there is still quite a bit of head room sitting in the seat. I do agree the FJ could use some reinforcement in the A Pillar area, luckily there is a ton of head room in the FJ to start with.
