This is from an interview with Brig. Gen. Rodeheaver the commander of the Ga National Guard 48th Inf Bde where he is reflecting on being in Iraq and interacting with other colition troops.
"How many of you have ever had to work with British military folks? They're just different people. My units were commanded by colonels and majors. But that unit was commanded by a British Royal Regiment command sergeant major. He was just a different dude," he said.
"The British soldiers are different, you know. They stomp their feet when they address you and they salute backwards. He said, 'Sir, we think we're going to have a problem working with you.' I said 'Why's that?' He said, 'Because you talk funny.'
"I said, 'I think you talk funny.' So he said, 'We speak the queen's English in my outfit.' I said, 'Well, which queen is that?' He said 'Queen Elizabeth.'
"So I said, 'Well, we speak the king's English in my outfit.' He said, 'What king?' I said, 'Elvis Presley.'"
