Greetings everyone! First time poster.

I want a pig. Aside from the general used car stuff, what are some of the things I should look and/or look out for when inspecting an FJ55? I'd like to find something close to stock and running.

A little background, I sold my 60 about 4 years ago. I loved that truck but for various reasons, it had to go. Besides, a 55 is what I really wanted!. The time has finally come to move forward...

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Art,

Oneman has certainly hit the main points....also be aware of the roof. At least you're on the left side of the country where you have a better chance of finding less rust. Good luck and welcome:flipoff2: (our official welcome)

FJ55

Art I'm in Huntington Beach also and have a couple pigs. If you want some local advice maybe even look at local pigs with you I'd be happy to help.

The rear window thing is usually easily solved

Leaks can be solved pretty easy

Rust is much more difficult - however there are a couple places that almost any not recently restored pig will have some. Bottom of front fenders, under the rear reflectors, and for beach pigs the drip rails. Weather stripping is sometimes tough to find - as are a lot of FJ55 specific parts.

But the Pig group here on Mud is a great group of guys that are experts in pigs, happy to share experience and technical expertise, and just really nice guys.

PM me if you think I can help

I would personally look for an original, complete 55 w/ a body in decent condition.Rocker and fender rust is one thing, but floor boards, roof gutters and body mounts that are rusted out, will turn in a huge project.Either way,buy one and the women will come!:grinpimp:
