what is white flexible pipe behind HVAC controls

I've been moving my dash a lot (messing around stereo system).
I don't know what to do with white flexible pipe behind HVAC controls, should I just leave it however or should I put it in particular place?
Also don't know purpose of that pipe.

I believe it allows the HVAC to measure cabin air temp.

finally I know where it looks for temperature.

I’ve always guessed there is a venturi of some sort inside the HVAC diverter box that it hooks up to. Dependable, but slow to react.

I dont know about slow, but I can tell you I prefer my '97's Auto AC to my wife's '14GX's Auto AC.
