Looks like a US M416 trailer. I don't know anything about that hitch setup.

just got it for 300

just surface rust and really bad paint and good tires

Yeah, that's kind of pricey. You can also join the yahoo group for M100s and M416s and see if someone has a used lunette to sell.

Did he throw in the Datsun 220 pickup? You could have stuck it in the 416 and hauled it home.
