Hello all,

Anyone know what the Y pull knob on my BJ44 does? Is it stock? Aftermarket?

Thanks!

Is it a "V" for vent?

Nope. I have one of those. it is in the far Left corner of the silver dash panel (like the 83's here) above the ash tray. It is right hand drive so I guess it would be in the upper right for a domestic BJ.

I have seen some trucks that have it as a blank, but I also remember seeing it before in other people's trucks.

Any help would be appreciated!

Do you have the cold weather shutter in front of the radiator?.Some cruisers have a shutter that is kept closed in extreme cold weather so the radiator can reach normal operating temps.
I was thinking the knob may open/close this shutter if you have one;)

I have a shutter on my BJ60, it is totally manual ops. You have to get out and pull it down like a window roller shutter.

I'll do that tonight. It is an electrical pull and not a mechanical/cable pull. I did pull it and didn't see or feel anything different. I wasn't driving so I may need to try that.

I'll let you know what I find out tonight.

Wow dude never heard of such a thing? My 44 has a 24V cig lighter in the bottom left. Above that is the hazard pull switch. To the right of the cig lighter is my Vent fan (hi, med, low) pull knob. Wierd, I thought my truck had all the factory dudads added..... Maybe it is a digital Yen (japanese money) conversion pull switch....:grinpimp: . Or maybe that was the only knob somebody could come up with out of a junkyard?

I was thinking that it was aftermarket too, but I sort of remember seeing one before on some site, somewhere and it was stock... I couldn't believe it because it matched nothing... Odd. I will post pics and some of the wiring routing if I can soon.

Well, I looked behind the dash, and it looks like the switch is plugged into a stock wiring harness. On the EPC it says that spot is for fog lamps (which I don't have).

Here is the pic:

Thanks,

I'll let you know if I find anything else out!

That appears to be aftermarket. It looks like it's "recessed" on the top and the rest of your knobs are "raised" on the top.....and that lettering looks homemade.

It might be an aftermarket nob, but the post behind it and the attachment ring look identical to the others. The Y is actually printed and slightly recessed into the know, so i think it came with the Y. Odd. I am planning to restore this truck, so hopefully I'll be able to track the wire when I go trhough the harnesses.

Thanks all,

Kraig
