What is the Radius of a 40s rear cornner?

All,
Tryin to get some 1/8" steel corners bent and from my measurement/ template it looks like the radius is 7" or maybe 7/18"?? The shop is hesitant to bend em up cause I cant get my s*** to their shop since its all torn down for paint and the body isnt 110% perfectly straight anyways. Anybody know the exact radius?

You are really going about this the hard way. Take a piece of anything that will bend and keep the form. Bend it around the back. There is your radius. The radius is the same regardless if you are on top of the quarter panel. Dig? They should be able to bend accordingly. If not, take a protractor (or make a protractor) and measure your bend and there you go.

Still in the dark I guess. You're talking to a history major here (ie. no real geometry ever taken) Wanna elaborate on how to exactly find the radius. I simply measured from point to point where the radius becomes straight like the metal dude told me.

If the guy will not take a bent piece of metal, take a 12 inch piece of string, attach to a nail and then attach the nail to a flat piece of X. The x can be anything as long as it is over 12 inches square. Attach the other end of the string to a pencil AT THE CLOSEST POINT TO THE LEAD TIP. Start at about 6 inches (of string between the nail and the pencil lead) Draw an arc keeping the pencil as straight as possible (the point of the string being as close to the lead as possible). Compare the arc to the piece of metal you bent. If the arc of the quarter is less, take in the string length, if it is more, add to the string length. It might sound complicated but it really is not when you get into it. You can draw the arcs on any kind of paper and then just match them. When they finally match i.e. you lay the piece of metal over the drawn arc and there is a congruence, then measure the string the length from lead to nail and....................booya, there is your radius. Should take a total of 5 minutes not including the 5 minutes of set up.

Thanks Juke. Ill try to do it that way and then compare that to the template I already made by just tracing the panel's curve on a peice of poster board. (My quarter panels are cut straight cause the stock drop/tab thing was rusted out.)
