I don't recommend Speedlining the inside of you truck, it's a great product but it has a toxic smell that was still in my truck two years later. Linex is IMO a better product exspecially in a enclosed space like your Troopy.

Lou

Do you know which brands are Latex based?

I know you bought the paint, but I thought I would post anyways.

i'll paint mine one day.... probably the 'john deer green" with the battleship grey 16 splits. nothing looks better than stock!

nevada, why are you selling your truck?

Just testing the waters. Trying to get the :princess: into a 100 series (Or a Troopy for me. We need another L/C that will seat four with gear) so I can get my 80 series back from her. I know me, I was already on the fence about selling it, then the current prices on Troopies (That are actually selling) has really solidified the fact that I won't let it go for what the current market is bearing.

That's why I didn't even bother posting it over here. I'd love for it to go to a 'Mudder but there are some killer deals out there for less than I need to get out of it.

I can't wrap my head around that blue troopy with a/c and power steering only getting 10k. I just want them all...

Thanks for asking though.

help/advice on removing all the windows/trim on my troopy! what method do you guys prefer to use to remove the gaskets and glass that results in not breaking the glass.

Thanks,
Peter

I kind of like the blue but white is easy to patch

To be honest, I didn't think I liked blue until post #7 and #15. Those look good.

The troopy is now a frame-off restoration. The body is now seperated from the frame. This takes some time. I'm sure it's going to take just a minute or two longer to put everything back!!! Typical rust in the corners where the top joins the body and so forth. The previous owner down under liked cutting holes in the body, time to work on my sheet metal fab skills. My wife expressed concern about the rust and said she was sorry that there is more then I expected, but i replied that i'm actully happy!! This justifies my new syncrowave 200 tig welder. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow.

The plan is to strip/sand/patch and fill any problem areas on the body and frame. The inside and bottom of the body will recieve speedliner spray-in liner and the body will be shot with base/clear. The H engine drivetrain combo is coming out(for sale) and will be replaced with a 1HZ-T combo. OME heavy's with 33X10.50X15's on stock disk brake wheels and stock hub caps.

The body color is going to be olive green and white top. My offroad trailer is coming along too. Same color scheme for the trailer. The trailer is complete as far as the sheet metal is cut out and i still need to weld it in place. Too bad work is getting in the way.

Nice work Peter. Didn't I warn you about frame up restos? They take forever. Ahh, hell it's all a learning experience. Have fun with it. Wish I was closer to come check out your progress and drink a beer or 3 and watch you work. ;)

I'm glad that you settled on the olive green. That will be a sweet color on a Troopy. The baby blue may have been a little overboard and we may have had to kick you out of the club.

Sounds like you and Russell are now Troopy buddies. We should try and talk him into bringing his new toy to CM09.

Let's get some more pictures going...

Started sanding with the DA and patching the holes on the inside of the tub. Two holes on the inside of the tub on the front of the wheel wells. A two inch hole in the middle of the tub. The left hand side door B pillar where the top slides in was rotted out. I cut that out with the cut-off wheel and then plasma(d) a new piece out of 16 gauge. Tomorrow I will cut out the appropriate sized hole with a hole saw.

FYI- if your selling your cruiser out of Australia don't rattle can the inside of the firewall to make it look pretty!!! NO.

Here are some pics.

The third photo is of the camping trailer I'm building too.

Very cool. It looks like your off to a great start with your trailer as well.

troopie patch pics

some more work on the troopie. Slow, but steady. Work has really presented a problem as of late. It is impairing my troopie time.

Here are some pics from today. Tackling the cancer in several of the roof and body supports. Side to side the rust is not consistent. One bracket looks great with alittle surface rust and then the opposite side is almost gone.

These patches were made with 16 gauge sheet metal. Thicker then stock, but atleast it will hold up for another 30 years.

David,

I thought about sand blasting the body, but the black paint comes off pretty easily. The blue oem paint is still rock solid. I'm leaving for africa tomorrow and will not be able to work on the troopie until mid-march, but after that I plan on finishing the rust repair and atleaset painting the tub so I can start re-assembling the cruiser. I'm replacing all the nuts and bolts with new hardware, and new inner door panels. I hope to replace the h diesel with a newer 1hz or 1hz-t.

Did your new troopie arrive?

best regards,
Peter
