Coming back from looking for jade in Lilooet with a tour group of seven in the truck decided to go up Blowdown for my first time. The initial trail is pretty narrow and good for some pinstriping. Didn't need to engage lockers at all on the way up, however there are a couple of sphincter-tightening spots where the trail is eroding away, necessitating taking a bit of camber up the side of the trail to avoid the vertical cliff that is washing away. I think my (Taiwanese) tour group closed their eyes and said budhist prayers at those spots. If it gets any worse the shelf will need some digging. Got the top and there was a delica up there and some dirtbikes. Still snow across the road just pass the rocks that block any vehicle larger than an atv from getting into the Stoltman. Lots of wildflowers up above tree line.

Anyone been up Hurley Silver Mine lately? I want to try that next....

Still snow up there, what's the elevation? I was hoping to head up North in September, just South of Chilko lake, I may have to rething my plans. Taseko is about 3000 meters and the trail runs around 2000+ mteres. As for the mine, haven't been there.

I think the saddle was at around 2100 m. Not a lot of snow at all, basically a soliatery drift that hadn't fully melted. I could have driven over it no problem, it was all ice.

Highly recommend Blowdown, it's easy to access from the Duffy Lake road and pops you right into the alpine. But you will pick up some pinstripes...

Oh yeah, and the correct road is not quite obvious since there has been some recent logging and roads added. Look the for the long straight narrow branch that's getting a bit overgrown. It is the only road that goes up the north side of blowdown creek. The Pinstriping overgrowth only goes a few hundred meters and then it opens up.
