colorado. I'm considering buying a small trailer to tow with the lc which would have some furniture on it. so, my question is what is the towing capacity for a 97 lc? any info from those who have used theirs to tow something?

thanks for any info!

Search in the 80's and Trailer sections will reveal a lot about towing capacity. I've regularly towed 4000lbs. Some even more than that.

A small trailer with some furniture won't reach that capacity, so you will be just fine.

The 80's are rated for a 500 lb tongue weight and IIRC 3500 or 5000 lbs. ROW is higher if that will help ease your mind - same truck - different lawyers!

People's Rebublik of Kalifornia will insist on trailer brakes if the trailer you are purchasing is 1500lbs or more. If electric brakes you'll need to get a brake controller wired up in the truck. Lots of info in the trailer section on that. I like my Prodigy controller.

Good luck with the move!!

thanks for the info. it looks like the towing capacity is 5000lbs for us and 7000lbs for the same vehicle in other countries...not sure why the difference.

I'm actually looking at an '86 5'x8' military trailer to see if it'll hold everything.

I'm gonna do some more research!

Difference is lawyers here in the US. Plain and simple. :censor::censor: lawyers. :censor::censor:

Which part of CO? I frequent CO Springs. My daughter and granddaughter live there. Have not driven my 80 there yet but it would be one fun drive with many spots to get dirty along the way.

You'll hate pulling more than 2000 lbs over any of the passes here in CO - unless you like driving in 2nd gear at 30 mph and 4000 rpm. Shouldn't be too bad if you'll be landing on the western slope.
