After my truck falling off a tow truck and a bunch of other crap happening, I'm getting a jeep cherokee from the tow company and I also get to keep my truck so I'm going to build it anyway. 84 4Runner, trashed bed, both fenders fawked, and a hammered pass. side door. I'm going to be cutting off the bed probably right behind the rear passengers seats. Also I'm straight up going to have to cut the rear spring bolts out and don't have a replacement bolt or sleeve for them, and they aren't budging for sure. A few questions....

Anyone here who has done a flatbed: Do I just clip the wires off the stock tail lights and just wire them to whatever lights I get?

I will be building it out of square material because I have no access to one, and don't know how to use one either lol.

Has anyone eliminated the sleeve in the rear springs by drilling a 3/4 inch hole in the hanger and running an 18mm greasable shackle bolt through it with 2 large washers?

Any pics or ideas of 1st gen 4runners (I've seen the pirate4x4 flatbed thread) with flatbeds or tips on what to or not to do?

Need to whip it out, within a month and a half I will probably be snowboarding and wheeling will be over either then or very shortly after) I'll be able to fit those 35's now that my truck is trashed and I don't care how much sheet metal I have to remove :Grinpimp:

I think I'm going to weld a few little gussets on my J arm just to see if it helps. I'll have crossover on it over the winter and will probably only have to deal with the J arm for a few wheeling trips.

let me get this straight...a tow company dropped your 4runner and they gave you a heep of s***?

Bet you needed a  after that...

Post some pics of the damage.

Hope it turns out good.

Well yes in short that is what happened, along with some other s***. I'm actually embarassed to say this but I'll be kind of stoked to have the cherokee because I know my little 200k mile 22r wasn't going to be up to towing any snowmobiles this winter especially with stock gears and 35's and the Heep has a 4.0 HO so I'll have a crawler and a good dd plus I've fixed many a many Heep Cherokee so no problems there. I bet it needs a track bar and a knock sensor :grinpimp:.
