I am In the Alpharetta Cumming area and spend most if my time in the 80 and 95 and earlier pickup area. I also post in the tundra/sequoia as well as the 100 series sometimes. I've been on mud for a decent amount of time but still have a lot to learn. I am always looking for new projects regardless of my current progress on any current ones. Would love to meet up with others and be inspired to waste more money that I don't have.

welcome!! I love that pickup!!

Greetings (my name is Pete), just found the group and I live in East Cobb/Marietta. Have had my ‘81 FJ40 now for about 4 years and really love everything about it. Fairly stock, but have added some unique touches that done take away from the balance too much. Would love to meet up with the group with the next meetup (following FB and IG now).
Where in Marietta are you Pete? We are probable pretty close, I live near Pope HS. I have a couple of built white 80s so you may have seen me driving around. I will keep an eye out for that stunning 40. I hope to make a Saturday meet ups one of these days.

@smittycrusher I’m literally behind Pope HS, myself….my hood is on the back end of the Pines.

I think I may have seen you at a stop light recently…we are longtime fans of Paradise mexi grille and sandy plains. We are always there :)

That is awesome, we are VERY close to one another. I live off Davis road and my son walked to Pope his first two years through the woods you might be talking about. He is a junior now and has a parking pass so he drives his 80 to school. You will probably see them both around town. We should grab breakfast, lunch, coffee, etc. sometime.

That is correct. Took it like a champ! And yes, this one started life as a black LX450

The guy who did it was a coworker. He felt awful. He got a 200 but he has since moved to a ford...

I knew he felt bad. It was all good, accidents happen. I knew he went to a 200, sorry to hear he fell off the wagon!

@smittycrusher love the fresh BFG A/T's - did you source locally in Marietta? Was thinking of just ordering (like TR.com) and have delivered to a local tire shop to install on a set of OEM FJ40 rims.

Howdy, y'all! I live in Pendergrass, Jackson County and have been in the metro-ATL since 1995. I'm a bit late to the party when it comes to these legendary Toyota's, though I've really come to love the LC's and LX's. I picked up my first specimen - '08 LX570 in Spinal Red/Beige w/ 142k mls - about 3 years ago and I've recently picked up a new-to-me 2015 LX in Black Onyx/Black. Both are basically stock at this point, though the 08 has aftermarket wheels and upgraded fogs.
To the chagrin of she who should be obeyed I've already begun tinkering and outfitting the 2015. On order and waiting to to be delivered and/or installed are the following:
-Victory 4x4 rear entertainment screen delete
-Set of Diode Dynamics SS3 Amber Max w/ Backlit to replace the factory fogs
-Crown Focus wireless Apple CarPlay integration kit
-On order are some new MR318's in 18x8.5 +40mm offset to be paired with 275/65/18 Michelin LTX A/T2, however, I'm starting to change my mind and am thinking of going w/ a set of MR703 in 17x8.5 +35mm paired with a set of 285/70/17 BFG K02's. What say y'all? Seems I can squeeze those in with just enough backspace and might only need to remove the front mudflaps, maybe use the heat gun on a few pieces to bend them out of the way, idk.
Future Plans:
Though I do use this as a daily driver, I generally WFH and over time I would like to outfit the vehicle to become more and more purpose-built for overland adventure and camping, though this is something I'm not certain about yet. If so, I'd be looking at adding stuff as needed.

Anyhoo, sorry for tmi, but as you can tell I'm excited about my 2 rides :)

the 08 now has 186kmls and I've put a good bit of $ into it but it has rust and and some work that needs doing so I'll be selling it soon.

What’s up guys. Ran into Rex at Cars and Coffee and he sent me the group info. My name is Sam and I’ve been around Mud for a long time and Toyota even longer. I’ve had all manner of Toyotas including an old pickup rock crawler, Tacomas, Tundras, 4Runners, etc. Currently have a 76 FJ40.
