Getting the truck preped for a 2000 mile round trip journey to Colorado to visit with my mom then to Moab for CruiseMoab.

SD Trux has the engine running like it should and all the fluids are in good shape as are the tires.

Trailer is finished and has all my camping gear permanentlly in it.

Both airlift airbags originally installed in 2004 are shot, so I picked up a new set. Going to give it a go installing them myself this time.:banana::wrench:

If I can get that done this weekend without :censor: something up, I'll be good to go! The beast need the bags full time, even with OME heavies back there. Between the roof rack, two storage drawers full of stuff, refrigerator, Kaymar rear bumper with tire carrier and CO2 tank, I'm rivaling Dave for most weight on the back of a cruiser! :hhmm:

you should hang your dutch ovens over the nose, they'll act as a counter weight that way.
And if you built a stinger big enough, you could just park next to the fire and let them hang over the coals!

LOL.
Have fun in Moab!

You need the 868 springs in the back so you can stop messing with airbags. They are not as stiff as you would think.

Hmmm...maybe next time. Old airbags came out and new ones went in very easily. Cranked each side up to totally unweight the coil and compressed the old bag right out.

Interestingly, there still wasn't enough space between the coils to squeeze a dremel in to grind the holes for the air lines a little larger.

New bags compressed slide in with a little persuasion. All in all much easier than I thought it would be. Did not remove the bottom shock mount at all.

Was about 2 hours work being anal about rerunning the air lines to the back of the truck.

Detected no leaks, but tomorrow, we'll see.

48 hours and they are still holding their pressure. Finally did something without breaking something else!

Truck is as ready as she'll ever be for the trip to CO and Moab. Just have to pack my food and cloths. All the camping gear is now permanently in the trailer. Gotta love that part. Won't forget anything anymore!

haha... If I said that, I'd be cursed forever!

You must be really loaded up, I'm running 864's in back and with my 3 rail motorcycle trailer and loaded up for 4 days of camping I barely sit level again.

Man, have fun in CO and Moab, what a dream trip!

 I should be careful saying that shouldn't I! Probably will forget my toothbrush!!!

Shoot - ALL my camping gear except my sleeping bag is now in the trailer.

I've been real happy with the airbags. Sagged real bad with the 4000lb trailer for the scouts. Had used a weight distribution hitch for it, but when I went to OME heavies, I put in the airbags and they work just as well.

My mother lives in Breckenridge, so going to spend a few days there then back to Moab. No wheeling planned for Breck tho. Town is at 9000ft so I'm sure any local trails will probably still be closed due to snowpack.

Newbie to Moab, so I'm really looking forward to it. I'm sure spectacular pics don't do it justice.

2000 miles driving, so gas is going to hurt, but it'll be worth it I'm sure!! :bounce:
