Benbow Jeep Trail is a 4x4 trail located in the Custer National Forest in Montana maintained by one of the local jeep clubs. It is 8.5 miles long and travel time is about 2 hours from parking to the mine site.

It’s rated a 5/10 on OnX but take that with a grain of salt. According to some of the trail reports it’s wide enough to fit a full size truck. No one I talked to in the club had been up there before so I figured I’d scout it out this weekend. Anyone’s more than welcome to tag along. Maybe it will be a good club ride next year

I’m planing on doing a day trip
I will be leaving Bozeman at around 07:00 Saturday August 1st and airing down near the trail head around 09:30
If you do plan on coming please let me know

ive been to Benbo! its been a bit. i dont remeber ever encountering anything that wasnt something a stock chevy truck couldn't handle. its been about 5 years i think. i have a GAIA track for the route we were on. A local to red lodge showed me the spots. id share the track but might be more fun to compair notes afterwards. just remeber getting up onto a like big plateau at one point with a ton of camping spots and the tower at benbo mine was kind of cool.

Yea just from looking at it on the map there’s quite a bit of exploration to be done up there there’s the main road but there’s quite a few offshoot roads as well

Its a great trail for most. Not too technical but also very scenic. The local club just did some trail maintenance on it last week so it should be clear of fallen trees. They get a lot of wind up there. It you are staying in the area, look up Picket Pin road. Probably a 3 rated but nice also.
