Hey guys,

Sorry for the broadcast but I need to talk to the person in charge for the coastalcruiser.ca domain. I tried emailing Phil and Marcin but haven't heard back. I moved the website to a new server and before I cut the old server off, I need a change made.

for cruiser content, here's a photo of me up on the KVR last January :)

Yup, I got your email but can't help, Marcin is the one you need to talk to.
I suspect we should maybe get a new webmaster (no offense Marcin), I know Marcin's life has become very busy, I was there myself 7-8 years ago.
 
Cool, thanks. I want to turn the server off asap and it's the last one I need configured.
 
I'm going to keep the old server on for another day or two but really have to turf it after that. All the stuff is on the new server, I just need Marcin to update the DNS records to point to the new IP.

If you see the site go away on Friday, get on his case ;)

I need to shut it off soon because the billing fate for the old server is coming up right away and I don't need to give those guys any more money :)
 
Hey guys,

You really need to get Marcin to update the Nameserver so that your site comes online again. Not really a lot I can do about it right now. It's probably been down since Oct 30 when the old server went offline.
 
I am not a web master by any means, I was just updating content for a while as a temporary "fill in". The software I was using is no longer available to me.
Please let me know what I need to do to point the site to the new IP and I will ask Kris, our web man, to help.
And yes Phil, we need somebody to maintain the site...

Let me know what I can do to help, I have redirected nameservers in the past, I would need the name of the registar company, user name and password.
No slight towards you Marcin, trying to maintain the web site is an unenviable position, especially in a volunteer position and no new content to update the site. Needless to say, know one else raised their hands when this was tabled, what you built (without any feedback) is great, we just need to figure out how to maintain it (as a collective).

It was suggested at a previous meeting IIRC that we simplify the coastalcruisers.ca website to a simple brochure site (maybe even a single page) with contact information for the officers, meeting dates and locations, and a pointer to our IH8MUD forum. No need to maintain content in two places; everything about club happenings is posted on MUD anyway.

What does everyone think about this approach?

It is completely logical, IMO.
