Okay, so i got the weber 38, old carb was messed up. Gonna rebuild the OEM while weber is in.

Im installing it correctly and following the supplied instructions and it should be simple, but for some reason its not. I dont understand how the accelerator linkage hooks up, or how the choke hooks up.

Anybody with a weber 38 please show me pictures of your accelerator / choke linkage so i can just copy yours.

I've done searches but can't see clear pictures.

thanks!

OK, two s***ty camera phone pics, sorry but my data card for my good camera is at work. This is a 32/36 but they use the same linkage.

First one shows linkage, it's basically a bell crank. Red arrows indicate factory mount point and the factory rod from the accelerator pedal. Blue arrow is choke cable running to manual choke linkage on side of carb. You can see the arm linking to the carb throttle arm at the lower left. Hose from charcoal canister removed to clear the field, that's the open pipe at right.

Second pic, mount on carb for bell crank rod. My original carb adapter was shorter, two pieces, leaked continually. This one is a bit taller, but billet and seals up nice. I had to bend the mount a little, but it works fine.

Well, here's what I can make of that. The big bracket on the right of the picture clearly has bolt holes spaced to match the base mount bolt of the Weber, so it most likely mounts to the left (driver) side of the carb. the smaller bracket with the ball connector on the lower right of the pic has a slot that looks very much like it would mount to the throttle shaft of the Weber.

That's where I hit the wall. Other than those two parts, you have a few nuts and some vacuum plugs. If the supplier didn't provide an installation diagram, I'd get on the phone and ask them to pony up some instructions, or fxxx off and send back your money.

I honestly dont know what arm hooks up to what, because the bracket on the side of the carburetor isn't facing the right way? I dont even know how the choke is suppose to hook up, and what its even suppose to hook up to also.

That is a throttle cable bracket for the Weber carb. You need the mechanical linkage set-up.

Contact your supplier. Make sure they sold you the right kit for your FJ60. No FJ60 would have a cable unless modified.

Weber carbs utilize an electric choke. When I ran one the choke was disabled all the time. Never seemed to need it in Texas.

okay, put the old carburetor back in... no choke hooked up. for some reason it drives a little better then before. or maybe its my imagination since i haven't driven it in a few days. The jet sizes are wrong, its running lean and i want to rebuild it. So i still want to use the Weber.

Im going to email jtoutfitters, which i thought was suppose to be a pretty reputable business for Land cruisers / weber stuff. They told me that everything, including the linkage, was straight bolt on right out the box for my 1985. Seems like they don't know what their talking about, and now I'm pissed. They better send me whatever i need. (the bracket that mounts to the side, and whatever else)

Aside from that I'm confused about the choke.

It came with a wire, and connecters, but doesn't have any instructions on how to hook up the electric choke?
