Fraid I don't have any pix of this so the tale will have to suffice. I went up river to where the Pearl crosses under hwy 25 above the reservoir to check out some trails I had seen there. Found them. Lots of nice trails going in all directions just off the hwy. Lot of huge, deep mud holes too. I managed to not avoid one of the biggest and sunk the front end my truck up to the fan housing. The rear wheels were still out but the angle was too steep to get any traction. To make matters worse, my winch control box shorted out from being under water. (I know, I know,.....mount it higher or inside) Lesson learned.
Picture me with two shirtless, wet boys walking up hwy 25 looking for a house with a big truck. No dice.
Went back to the truck with crying 6 year old and peaved 12 year old.
Sometimes angels ride ATV's. A nice young guy with his wife and little girl on board stopped and used his cell phone to call his dad who came out with a pickup and pulled us out.
Thanks to Greg and Jeff for moral support.
It started dumping rain as soon as we got out.
gotta fix my winch.
gotta get back to those trails soon. The guy told me there's a nice sand bar nearby. Just have to pick the path a little more carefully next time.
