Hi there, I have a 2006 Land Cruiser and could really use some help.

Lately I've been hearing a ton of water sloshing as I come to a stop. It sounds like a wave of water is moving.

I took a look at the floor mat on the passenger side and it's completely soaked. No other parts of the mat are wet, just the passenger side. I finally located the AC drain line and used compressed air and wire to try and remove a potential clog (to get the water to come out), but nothing's come out at all.

Am I doing something wrong or is it just not an AC drain line problem? Is this a problem with my evaporator box?

Honestly just wondering if there's any way for me to drain the water. I'm not a car guy and this is very new to me, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If you're asking about draining the water from the floor, There are some plastic caps in the floors sheet metal you can remove that should help drain the water but you'll have to remove the carpet to access those plastic caps.

If the water leak isnt coming from the A/c, you could have a leak in sunroof or the roof rack, or windshield

The same thing happens to mine but only when it rains. It’s never been in a accident on the front passenger side and I’ve tripled checked the weather strip on the door.

I’m thinking it’s either the evaporator box or AC that’s located behind the glove box. Keep us posted what you find!

It could be the cooler packing on the evaporator housing that needs to be replaced. I performed this job a few months ago due to a slight drip that I noticed on my rubber floor mat. It could also be clogged sunroof drain(s).

Hello shayne92,
From what you've described, that's a lot of water.
I can't image there is enough water on your passenger floor that you would hear it sloshing.
You may have several issues...

Does it sound like the water is above you?
If so, maybe all of your sunroof drains are clogged and your sunroof is full of water.
I've never heard of this much water trapped up there, but I guess it's possible.
I'd open your sunroof and see what you see.

Does it sound like the water is below you?
If so, I'm guessing one of your rocker panels is full of water.
Just below your passenger doors (yes, all 4 of them), there are small drains in the rocker panel pinch welds.
Use a piece of string trimmer / weed eater line (or similar...) to clean out the drains.
Just push it up into each small drain a couple of inches.
You can check to make they are clear by opening up your sunroof and dumping water into the edges of your sunroof.
It should drain down through some plastic tubing and run out of the rocker panels.

Per Arocobuilt above, a little water on your passenger floor is often caused by old dried out cooler packing at the bottom of the HVAC evaporator box (and dirt / leaves in the same area...).
Just search cooler packing on the forum or search YouTube for a video where they retrofit Cabin Air Filters into a 100 Series Land Cruiser.
The video will show you how to remove the front cover of the HVAC evaporator box, which is what you need to do to replace the cooler packing.
I typically lubricate the cooler packing with a little dielectric grease prior to install.
It helps it stay in place while you re-install the front cover of the box.

If there is a lot of water on the passenger floor, it's more likely a windshield leak or maybe a broken / clogged sunroof drain.

To dry out the inside of your SUV, first use a wet / dry shopvac or similar to suck up as much water as you can.
Second, buy a bucket of Damprid and follow the directions.

Let us know what you figure out.

Enjoy.
Tom
