My 2004 LC will turn three years old and/or cross 36k miles in the next few months. I want to see if I can still buy an extended warranty for it. Can I still buy a warranty this far after purchase (but before expiration of the factory warranty). If so, is there a "Toyota" extended warranty or are all the extended warranties just private insurance contracts. What is the "best" extended warranty for me to buy (i.e., the one that will fight the least when something comes up and that will pay the dealer to do repairs, etc.). Are extended warranties "bumper-to-bumper" warranties that fix anything (including, squeaks, etc.) or do they just cover major components (which hopefully includes the NAV, I don't want to pay for that if/when my stock one goes bad).

Thanks!

Yes, you can buy an extended warranty from Toyota while the vehicle is still within its original warranty period.

Get the Toyota warranty underwritten by Toyota Financial Services (TFS) - you can check it out on the Toyota web site as jditom indicated.

There is a Gold level and a Platinum with either a $0 deductible or a $50 deductible. The $0 ded is only $50 more - definitely worth it for less hassles.

You can get various terms, but the 100K miles within 7 years is the most flexible. The price jditom got is very good.

Do not assume your local Toyota dealer will sell a TFS warranty. Many times it is a third party one with the same Gold/Platinum labels. Make sure TFS is the warrantor.
