As I mentioned in another thread, I'm having the Head Gasket job done on my 94 TLC. A guy I know from the local auto parts/machine shop is setting me up with his mechanic - who he says did many HG jobs.

What is reasonable to expect as a guarantee or warranty for the job? I just drive this car around- no offroad stuff. Thanks

Does he have any experience with a 1FZ-FE engine?

I'd think a 1 year warranty on major engine work would be "reasonable", but it should be in writing and you should know about this before the work is done - don't start asking about it afterward.

in my shop we offer 1 year or 12k miles wichever comes first on everything except wear and tear items. this is essentially an unwritten industry standard. If he will not give you this then find someone else also make sure it is parts and labor not just one or the other.

6 mos for HG warranty

Well he's giving me 6 mos for HG warranty... though he seems like an OK guy and would probably work with me in th event of a failure.

What do you get for HG job?
