Hello All,
I am thinking to install 3B engine on 1970 fj40 frame i wondering if there's is availability of 12 volt alternator and starter for 3B diesel, please advise me if it is possible to do with some hiccups or possible without any big problems. Thanks

Maybe post in the diesel section. I would guess fitting a 12 V alternator is easy enough - brackets are easy enough to modify. I'm looking to do a GM one wire 105 A ($80) - needs a pulley that fits the belt on my 72.

Starter - yea well lot harder to modify the mounting pattern. Then there is the amp load to consider. 12V requires twice the amps as 24 V. Almost every diesel I have ever been around is 24 V. Then there is what does all the brain boxes require for power.

The 3B came from the factory in both 24V and 12V vehicles. In Canada the BJ42 was only available in 24V but the BJ60 was 12V therefore starters and alternators were available for both.

Thanks for your reply,my bj42 frame and body is in very bad shape,in few weeks I will remove the body and see the frame rust i am thinking to repair those rusted frame sections I will weld new sections on it ,I found a place in calgary who can bend frame rails for me I am also thinking to bash my own body panels or I use body parts from my 1970 fj40, lots to figure out hopefully I will fix my diesel. Thanks 😃
