That last trip looked really fun! I was wondering if anyone would happen to free a couple weekends from now for a trip up virgin falls to spend a couple days up there exploring and camping?

Ps: the brooks pennsulia trip is still a idea but could need more planning

Wicked! I guess we should set up a date then. How about leave/meetup at Cathedral grove on Friday July 17th then camp until sunday afternoon?

Slight date change, Jim would you be able to do a Saturday -> Monday trip?
Trying to get one of my buddies that works Saturdays to come out with us, he's got a semi-stock tacoma but is very knowledgeable when it comes to wheeling.

Just a heads up guys, they closed the bush around Port Alberni this week, not sure how this will affect it out tofino way. Thought I'd let you know.

should be ok in tofino, I believe its considered to be in the "fog zone"

Just got back from the trip out to Gordon River, worked out some of the kinks in the camping setup (mostly getting this ****ing fridge to keep my meat cold) in prep for this trip

@JimJ would you be ok if we met up in Cathedreal Grove on Saturday the 11th at 12:00? I have a friend that can come if we left on saturday instead of earlier.

Something to look forward to

So it's looking like meetup in Cathedral Grove on Friday afternoon at around 4:30, all 4x4s are welcome.

Looking to find some wheeling spots around the Kennedy lake area, maybe a few hikes and gratuitous amounts of

Darn, these fires are starting to put a damper on camping ideas.

If they can't get these fires out by Thursday, might have to put this camping trip on hold...

Yeah they are working on contracting the Mars Water Bomber, it should happen today or tommorrow, that should put it out tomorrow. Just kind smokey here, can't imagine what its like at the lake right now.

Almost worth it to go watch it take off

Bad news fellas, Looks like that fire by Sproat Lake is still burning strong. And they've moved the fire ban down to the Fog Belt.

Its looking like this camping trip is going to be postponed until next week.

In related news, Ive put my name into the BC Forest Service as a Volunteer firefighter. Maybe some new skills can come out of this season?

Good for you Jordan! There's great value in being a volunteer fire fighter. The forest side of things will really give you some great training overall and insight into where best to camp and not based on location and escape routes.

Sadly looks like were not going to see 'lots of rain'. Have had 1-2mm here is all so far. Fingers crossed for more....
