what does the J indicate? I know whwat the rest are.

Wouldn't it be possible for another cruiser with the same options to have the same VIN? There isn't any production numbers in the VIN, just options.

my colour code is 416-LE11 which is dune beige. what does LE11 mean?

I've also found that my gears are 3.70, not 4.11s like people say that 1978s are supposed to be. Were they both available in 78?

I'm pretty sure the "J" is for the roll bar.

That's not a VIN really. Just a data plate to show how it was optioned. The early Cruisers had a serial number. It should be printed on the plate on the driver's door jamb, and stamped into the front frame rail on the passenger side.

3.70 started in 1/79 in US spec Cruisers. Yours is Canadian so all bets are off. I don't know if US spec stuff included all of NA but I doubt it.

Not sure on the color code.
