Question. Trying to do a Vermont Registration trick on an old FJ60 we got in Hawaii. I've done this successfully a few times with motorcycles but never with a truck. I mailed in all the paperwork but got back the forms with a much larger tax #. The back taxes due in Hawaii are over $1300 and Vermont is asking for $848. The NADA Value was around $5000 so I mailed in a check with the paperwork for around $500. Not sure why Vermont wants more money but just seeing if anyone has gone this route before and ran into the same issue. I also got a Dealer Appraisal Form which is impossible for me to do. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks!

A thousand miles of great 4 wheeling roads and a 32.00 license plate tax on my 60 is why I call Az home.
Sounds like a dream. I wish it were that simple out here. I think I figured it out as well. They are charging me the average NADA value which is $13,750 for an 83 fj60. Might have to fork out the cash because Hawaii wants over $1300. Any other ideas guys?

Never really looked at the NADA site. I wonder why the 86 and 87 are valued 2000.00 less. For all intensive purposes it's the same truck.
Personally I can't see paying 2000.00 more for an 83, all other things equal, just because of the year it was born. You can try forging it's birth certificate. I hear it's easy in Hawaii;)

. Exactly !!! Same in Arkansas but closer to $25. But we do have a one time used car tax paid on vehicles purchased over 4K. You'd be surprised at all the vehicles that sell for just a little under 4 k.:)

This is very strange for sure. I just did my FJ60 and it was no where near that price. More in the area of 600 with the tax, tag and estimated cost.
Mine was an FJ60 registered in New Hampshire that i registered in VT. that worked out great and i have my plate.
I will send you a PM

Aloha SuperTrooper,

I'm wondering how to do the Vermont title loop hole for a 1965 Vespa that has never been registered in Hawaii. I'm wondering what to do about showing a bill of lading. How did you deal with your motorcycles?? Any advice would be much appreciated!!
