I've been digging through all of the posts on weatherstripping for a while and I still have a question about the vent and fixed window weatherstripping. What alternatives have been tried?

The FJ60 and 62 also have a fixed window on the rear doors. How close in size are they? Would it be possible to take several of them and splice them together to get the right size?

The vent window is another one that has me puzzled. Has anyone tried using seals from different cars or trucks in the early 70's? I'm seeing a few things that look pretty close but figured I would ask before doing any experimenting.

Just wondering what others have tried as alternatives before I do any experimenting. No sense in trying what somebody else has already looked at. Thanks for any advice!

On the fixed windows I did what is called a finish job in the glass industry. What it is is using urethane to seal in the window. All I did was shim the window in where I wanted it and pretty much caulk it in but making it look really good. Looks great and seals perfectly.

On the vent windows I have yet to find an option. I know slo-cruisers makes a piece but this is my trail truck and I won't be spending 350 for this truck unless it is for a locker or a winch! ha

Hope that helps and if you have not done the cargo windows check out the write-up I did on making your own.

Carmon, what product did you use to do your "finish" job on those fixed windows?

Thanks!!! I really appreciate the advice. Been so busy thinking about cutting and splicing something that what you suggested never even crossed my mind. That might be what I end up doing.

My vent window seals are in pretty bad shape and this is going to be my daily driver so I might have to bite the bullet on the new ones. I'm not done looking for an alternative though. If I happen to find something, I post it. Thanks again!

Good deal, hope that helps. If you have any questions feel free to pm me. If you find a good solution for the vent windows let us know. The only place that I know that makes it is slocruisers.com. The owner John is a good guy, his stuff is expensive but its an exact fit...

I did not know it came in black. I have used the grey stuff for years doing electrical, and it is great stuff-long as you don't get any on your hands-Good tech!
