Woody,

I'm looking for assistance with another BB. It seems none of can 'upload' images no matter the size, or type of image file. The BB is vBulletin 3.7.2.

Are there any quick hints that you can lend me that I can pass on to the admins there. It seems nobody is able to get this worked out, and it's aggravating peeps.

TIA,

TY

is the upload folder CHMOD'd 777 ?

did they JUST upgrade, or is this a long-standing installation?

do they have a max-space limit set in the AdminCP?
CP > Options > Message Att Options > Max Disc Space (set to zero for unlimited space)

Not sure as to length of disability because I just joined there. But I can sense a frustration already when I polled others to see if they could upload images or not - and I'm not alone.

Should I pass on those 2 items? The chmod 777, and the Max Disc Space=0?

Would that do it?

TY

those are the first two I'd look at....actually, if the install has been around a while, then the max disc space is the first spot

3.8.2 is fairly 'outdated'....my guess is it's been around a while, and they max'd their planned space :)

Cool, I'll pass along that wisdom, and I was thinking along the same lines - that they were out of space. I'll query that at the same time.

BTW, how does the whole hierarchy of power go for this sort of thing? IOW's who tweaks this? Not a site admin .. so tech behind the scenes? I'm just looking to direct my push for this fix towards the right guy wearing the right cap. :)

Thanks,

TY

another q?

attachments in the DB or as a file?
CP > Attachment Manager > Att Storage Type > ?

CP > Att Man > Stats? ('MUD has over 300,000 taking up over 17GB...uugh)

are they doing thumbnails? (mine is 'no')
are they allowing vB to resize automatically? (mine is 'yes')
are they using the Lightbox setting? (mine is 'no')

forum admin....needs admincp access...some sites have a few....do NOT need server access for the admincp

Forumhome page > Show Groups - bet there is one (or more) listed...

Right on. I have a lot to start with, thanks man.

There wasn't a group listing but I found the admins in the help forum. Only 2 there, and one has a degree in mechanical engineering and runs a freelance web design business so I'll aim my questions at him.
