Okay , so first I was dumb enough to try cleaning my airflow sensor to begin with .
But I should have gotten on the forum and read up on the job before I started . long story short, pulled out the screws instead of the plug and might as well have taken a 12 gauge to my truck. Does anyone know a good place to find a a reasonably priced vaf for a 93 1fzfe we have no good junkyards or parts stores here in Las Vegas.

kline, i just had this issue this past weekend. Unfortunally when i called Napa, Oriellys, etc. they said they no longer carry remanned ones. I also looked around at cruiser sites with no luck. They are hard to come by.

Your best bet is to try and fix it yourself. Split the sensor box open on the top and figure out which of the metal tabs broke loose from the board. Solder them back on and you should be good to go!

Theres a few useful threads around here if you search them up, but HERE is the one i used to give me some guidance.

O'Reilly Auto Parts can send it out for rebuilding but it takes several weeks to get it back.

They quoted me +1 months to "send it in, and get it back"

If it's not your DD thats doable. Im curious as to the quality of the work though.

UT have you ever bought a VAF from Car ID before? Experiences? Im still looking for a replacement just in case my orginal goes down.

A friend did send one to O'reilly for rebuilding after I tried to help him re-solder the terminals. It came back looking like new and it's still working a year later. It did take about 6 weeks to get it back. I think it likely went to CardiD and it looks like they have some in stock.

Good to know, I'm curious about the life span of others who's repaired or replaced. Forget to check CarId before I went else where, purchased one from cruiser parts that may not even been in stock though

Hey caliper, sorry for the slow reply,I got super busy. You're right, short of stealing one from another cruiser they can't be found. I ended up following your suggestion and fixed it myself. Thanks for the link to the fantastic how to with great pictures .
Now hopefully my mediocre soldering skills will hold up. Thanks a million!

Hey mudders, I'd like to chime in on this if I may.....so I recently tested my MAF or VFM and had weird readings, so decided to look for a used or reman unit with no luck. I did find Car ID and maybe it was just me but I had one of the worst experiences ever. Apart from me placing an order for the part, they took my money ASAP, gave me an expected delivery date for three days from order date. Then a day before expected delivery date, i get an email saying they're pushing delivery a month later. So I decided to wait for the part only to get a follow up email a couple days before just to say that they had a nation wide delay and the part would arrive some time in August (or late July). I cancelled the order and went to NAPA and they sent my part to Cardone and got it back within 2 1/2weeks. Still can't get the VAF to function properly but I guess I need to drive around to get everything running good (hopefully). Sorry for this mini hi-jack, sucks you yanked that cable on the VAF, they should put like a bright yellow tag warning of impending costly danger if yanked.

This is the issue I'm having with cruiserparts.net right now, very happy to take my 250$ but say it could be 1 -3 months till it will arrive, an email following up with them provided no information on what was going on. This is why I was wary when CarID said it was "in stock" because i have a suspicion it was really not.

It seems these parts are easily damaged and hard to replace. What in specific was your issue with your's? I thought about sending it in through NAPA but this is my DD and cant afford to have it go down on me in this heat right now.

Calipber - the only issue I was having, if you can call it an issue, was that prior to sending it out, when I would check readings with FSM, it would be WIS but a few seconds later it would be way off. So I figured it was on its way out? I had some shop look at the truck as a whole and he also confirmed the irregular readings from the VAF. Like I mentioned earlier, I now have to deal with irregular idle and possibly a misfire or something like that. I read that I have to drive it for a few mile (100?) or so for the ECM to relearn stuff.

If it's your DD, sending it out will def take some time to get it back, at a minimum maybe 2 weeks. I took it to NAPA and they had to send it out to Pennsylvania for Cardone1 rebuild it and send back which took mine about 2 1/2 weeks turnaround. PAIN IN THE YOU KNOW WHAT!!!!!!!!!:bang::bang::(:bang::bang::bang:
