See, the thing is it's not that bad. But I'm almost positive it was caused by the dumb asses delivering it down low on coolant.

Anyway. I'm going to ride it out. The Vortec 5.7's are a dime a dozen, and I don't imagine a valve job or head rebuilds can be too bad anymore. It's been 3 or 4 years since I've chummed around a machine shop.

Adjust the rocker arms, here is the method I use, engine running.....back the nut off til it clicks, you will hear it, tighten it til it stops, then go 1/2 turn more.....the engine will start missing or lugging a bit because you have cause that valve to stay open, the hydraulics should allow it to close in a few seconds, move to the next one.......
very doubtful it was caused from low coolant unless it really got hot, if it did the coolant will have a burned odor.......swap over to Castrol 20w50 when you finish.....
