So I tried doing a search fot info on doing a chev V8 swap in a 97 cruiser and cant come up with any info. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of doing this and what setup works the best. I was thinking 327 with a NV4500 and an ATLAS 2

Thank- You

you must be searching wrong dude there is crap loads of info on it.
You really don't need to change the t-case you can get an adapter and use the stock one.
Pros
much better sound
more power
most of the times depending on engine choice better mpg
cons...... umm its no long all toyota, some people look down on that
.

.
best thing to do would be get a used ls1 out of a wrecked camaro/firebird/vette and use that

PM Kirk on the boards here and he'll tell ya all about it....if you've got the funds, anything is possible.

thanks for the info I will try another search and send out and PM. Not to worried about be all toyota, they make great stuff but it is always fun to have something a little different.

So I tried doing a search ...

BuckHammer,
There was a fairly long thread a couple of months ago discussing various non-stock engine swaps. It had several links to SBC conversions. Let me know if you cannot find the thread and I will try to assist with the search. BTW, a "327" would be hard to find. Everyone is doing "350" engines, at least since the 70's. I think the last SBC with a true 327ci engine was 1968 or there-abouts.

Here is the thread discussing various engine swaps in the 80-Series.

I could be wrong but doesn't chevy still put a 5.3L in the silverado, I guess the question is isn't a 327 a 5.3L. If not then the 5.3L is what I was talking about. Sorry for the confusion and yes I did find the thread after I did more searching last night. thanks for the help I am sure I will have more questions in a few days.

I'm not gonna do the math but technically, you might be correct. It's just that nothing that I have read in the past 30 years has referred to a "327" as anything but the early SBC engines. I am far from an expert on the subject though so take that for what it is worth.... not much.

With the route you want to take, one of the big expenses if you do not fabricate yourself, is the pedal assembly. Spector quotes around $750 for the factory left hand pedals. If it has to be a Chevy V8, go with an '06-7 LS1 w/multiple displacement technology to get power and fuel efficiency. I know where you can get a motor, harness, and the computer flashed to your needs to work with the NV4500.

thanks I would be pretty interested in getting that info from you, I am still early in the planning stage of this swap, but I can use all the help and info I can get.
