So before I go past the point of no return, is the V-8 worth the trouble? Guys with a V-8, would you do it again or stay stock?

Yes absolutely.

V-8

Thanks for the opinions. My heart lies with the V-8. I love the power, the sound, and the ease of obtaining parts and rebuild not to mention I currently have a nice low mileage 350 already. I have yet to pick up a transmission however I do have a line on a good 700r4. With an automatic do you still run into any shifter problems or is that easier with an automatic. By the way I also plan on going eith dual shifters.

Ok.............check out the video link I put in the POTM sticky :D

55 Frame Width

Please forgive me since I posted about this in the 40/55 tech section, but I got an email from Matt Bier and he still makes these mounts. I am contemplating a set for the 55. He states that he has sold these to guys for a 55 and has not had any complaints of them not being able to work. My question is hasn anybody actually tried this with these mounts? I've measured my frames (40 vs 55) and there is about 3/4" or so width difference and the frame quickness is the same. It would seem that that 3/4" or 10mm as I also have heard could be made up with some type of spacing. If there is anybody who has actually tried this please let me know.

Thanks

My 350 sits nice and even in the engine bay with plenty of room for a big rad, etc. Not sure what kit or parts were used though (it was done by the POx2).

I'll try to get some picks later if the weather cooperates.

I bought mine with the SBC and quite honestly it's a primary reason I bought it. It will never be a resto anyway and I look forward to mashing the skinny pedal heading up the freeway at speed in the mountains. It will be a nice change from dogging it in my 62.
