I use it in conjunction with Oziexplorer. I wish it would work in a moving map mode. But maybe it does and I haven't figured it out yet.

you can do that in real time with USAPhotomaps (don't know about Canada) all for free, with many different GPSes (not mine, though, sadly, it's a Garmin with USB protocol....)

I signed up for the Google Earth Plus. You can upload waypoints but it seems to not like to load tracks or routes every time. I would say it rarely does it really. I have a Garmin Etrex (plain one).

I haven't gotten it to send anything to the GPS. I just use Geobuddy or a similar program for that.

USAPhotomaps only grabs maps for the US, not Canada AFAIK. It is compatible with the Garmin USB protocol (works for me) and there there is the option to choose the protocol in the GPS -> Protocol menu.

If you have a provision for a serial hookup on the back of your GPS, you can buy or make a cable to have a serial interface that should work with most programs (and definitely with USAPhotomaps). Check out http://www.pfranc.com/ for cable and connectors. I've used them before and they have some interesting stuff and decent prices.

I think USAPhotomaps is a great program. Photo and topo maps together - I think it makes navigating or finding stuff easy as you have the ability to switch between the two. The maps are not always very current.

Google Earth is awesome, you can look up all kinds of cool stuff!

Gold Boy how are you getting google earth to give you real time (moving map mode) navigations? I can't seem to figure that one out. Are you using a internet card in your laptop at the same time?
