used winch questions

i have found a few of used used winches and cant decide .

a warn 8274 $300 the access cover where the little plastic knob that you pull out to put it in free spool is cracked and needs to be replaced or repaired .

a warn m8000 $400 obo , no remote or fairlead .

a warn 5687 $300 obo the grand daddy of the 8274 http://www.ih8mud.com/tech/oldwarn.php


the 8274 and 5687 are big assed heavy winches but have 150 ' of cable , the m8000 only hold about 80 ' of cable ?

I would go with the 8274.

yes i was think about it as well , i have spent way too many hours scouring the net and the 8274 seams to be the one every one recomends , the only problem is the shaft for the clutch/ free wheel selector is likley bent as the guy tipped it over while dragging it out of his garage right in front of me , all though that will bring the price down he said make me an offer , i was looking for somthing i could just bolt right up , i am sure i could fix it .

8274 is always a good choice.
Warn sells every little widget for their winches.
When you know what part needs to be replaced, call a local Warn service centre.
I've had good luck with Drive Products, I'm sure there are others out there as well.

I have a 24volt 8274, has never failed me....and I have put it to the test alot

The 5687 just dropped to $200. But, it looks like there is only one supplier of parts for it.
