Can you drive into Canada and buy used parts, and drive back into USA legally, without import documents?

Yes, but they will probably give you a closer look in secondary. A frame will arouse suspicion. A rolling chassis is even worse. Anything they know will have a VIN stamped on it will give them reason to dig deeper.

Stay away from frames, and maybe remove any vin tags from cabs and doors. So is there import fees or customs fees?Probably need a bill of sale with seller contact info.

I would be curious on how they are on transmissions, transfer cases and axles? Guessing a loose diesel engine would raise a red flag? Probably any engine would be questioned. Do they inspect leaving Canada as well as entering the US?
