Anyway I did a little research on the differences between each model year. Thought I would post it up. Most of this came from Edmunds. com. Not sure how complete it is so add any changes or correct any mistakes you see.
What's New for 1998
For 1998, the all-new Land Cruiser gets a more powerful V8 engine, standard ABS, an increase in structural rigidity, an improved suspension system, increased passenger and cargo room and several new colors.
The most obvious and most exciting change is the inclusion of a 4.7-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 engine under its hood, making the 1998 Land Cruiser the first Toyota to be powered by a V8. The engine produces 230 horsepower, 18 more than last year's six-cylinder engine, and 320 foot-pounds of torque, an increase of 45 over last year. Toyota executives say that the new Land Cruiser is "larger, stronger and heavier" than the previous generation truck, that it produces low emissions, is more fuel efficient than its predecessor and that safety and luxury options have been added to spruce up the exterior and interior of the vehicle.
The redesigned chassis and suspension resulted in a 50 percent increase in structural rigidity, making the SUV more comfortable, more durable and less noisy. Inside the Land Cruiser, you'll find more room in both length and width, larger door openings, more cup holders, an overhead console featuring three storage compartments and an eyeglass holder/garage door opener compartment, front and rear door pockets and separate compartments for first aid and tool kits.
Other luxury options include power moon roof, leather seats, roof rack, locking differential and a third seat. Stylistically, Toyota has thrown out their old color options save the Black, and is introducing this year's vehicle in Natural White, River Rock Green Metallic, Champagne Pearl, Mahogany Pearl, Desert Bronze, Imperial Jade Mica and Atlantis Blue Mica.

What's New for 2000
The Land Cruiser receives new standard equipment features, such as vehicle skid control and an Active TRAC electronic four-wheel-drive system with torque transfer capability. Additional standard equipment includes illuminated entry for the remote keyless-entry system, power tilt/slide moon roof and a leather interior. The optional third-row seat now includes rear air conditioning. Four pinion front differential upgrade. Rear locking differential no longer an option.
What's New for 2001
A navigation system is optional (and plays DVD movies when the vehicle is not in motion). Standard equipment includes an electro chromic rearview mirror with compass and JBL audio with an in-dash six-disc CD changer. Each of the power windows now features one-touch up and down control. Three new colors replace Desert Bronze on the color chart, and the alloy wheels have a new chrome like finish. Child seat latch system added this year.

Mechanically, the 2003 Land Cruiser delivers five more horsepower via a new five-speed automatic transmission. On the outside, you'll find standard 17-inch wheels, optional 18-inch wheels, slightly freshened front-end styling and clear-lens rear turn signals. Inside, Land Cruiser features a new dashboard design, a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, rear seat audio and steering wheel-mounted audio controls. There is also a new optional rear DVD entertainment system and available front- and second-row side curtain airbags.

The optional navigation system is now available with a rearview backup camera that lets drivers see what's behind them when backing out of parking spaces.

All Land Cruisers now ride on a set of 18-inch aluminum wheels

For 2006, Toyota has fitted the Land Cruiser's V8 with variable valve-timing technology, and the result is a welcome increase of 40 horsepower (to 275) over last year's model. Other changes this year include a standard tire-pressure monitor system, a newly optional automatic height-control and suspension and minor exterior styling revisions, which include a new grille, headlamps and tail lamps.
