I am looking at a water temperature sensor that goes in the upper radiator hose (cut the hose and it splices in) and from what I measure on the radiator nipple I have a 39mm but the available sizes are 38mm or 40mm. Any help in determining the actual size?

I am also open to suggestions on other methods of getting a 1/8th NPT threaded sensor hooked up for my after market water temp gauge.

I just replaced my hose and I believe side of the hose is smaller than the other if that helps.

I am looking at the top part of the hose that goes into the radiator on the DS on a US rig

That is exactly the web site I was looking at but wanted to make sure I ordered the right size.

without looking, I would have guessed 1 5/8 (42mm)

measure the hard openings (ID) not the hose

edit
[azTony,
If the openings are 39mm, I would order the 40mm. Either way, 1 or 2mm isn't going to make a difference.
I would rather have a bit of physical tension helping to seal it, rather than too loose.

if the rubber hose ends are two different diameters, you need to measure where you are going to splice in the adapter.
From post #8's link below, it appears that the hose may have two different size ends. From the photo, 34mm looks a tad small. But, obviously it works]

So nobody has info on the size? Dan, Kerry, Beno? Anyone?

azTony,

I recently added the GlowShift sensor with their hose adapter to my upper radiator hose. See picture below.

My LC is a 97 and my hose is 38mm (1.5"), but I do not know if your year is the same size.

I am also using their guage.

Both made for a clean and functional install.

Good luck.

I was leaning towards the 38mm but thought the parts guru's that usually answer quickly could help out. Ordering a size and it not working once I got it and then send it back once I find it does not work is what I am trying to avoid. Thanks for the pic, I am using their gauges also.

Just put mine in today and the 38mm fit like a glove, snug enough for comfort.

Jeez, 1 or 2 mm won't mater much....Give us a break...

If 1 or 2 mm would not matter then they should have just made one size. If I went the 40 mm route it would have been way too lose. Sorry if this was no help to you.

Duh! LMAO, yep. It was a tight fit already but "a little lube a do ya" ;-)

I am planning on putting in the gauges the weekend of Thanksgiving, just getting prepared.

Thanks for the tip on where you got yours!
