Upgrading Downpipe

Hi All, I'm going to upgrade my downpipe to a custom one on my 3.0TD SWB 90, just wondering what the best width would be? Don't have any other supporting mods so I'm starting with the exhaust.

A 3" exhaust starting at the turbo turned my 1kz-te into a snarling beast , whoever designed the factory exhaust should be shot .
