I’m being gifted (actually swapping pick up for) a 2000 Landcruiser that my father has had since new. It’s 52,000 miles and very clean. I intend to use it for my mountain biking trips, taking out the second and third row seats to do so.
But I’d love to have better stereo in it while retaining its stock look or being able to covert it back to stock in the future if desired.
I went into a rabbit hole reading a few threads here and watching you tubes. It seems that since I have the nav system it’s far more complicated.
So… should I attempt to source a non nav console, the 4 plugs, the stereo brackets and have a shop install a touch screen like an Alpine or Pioneer? Have Apple play etc. be able to use Waze on it for bag. . then have the amp and speakers upgraded in the stock locations and grills?
Or… keep the existing set up and also upgrade amps and speakers but find someway to input wired or wirelessly my phone? Might not solve the Waze issue.
Are there any places that can do this professionally that have done it before?
