Hi, first post. I have an '81 FJ60 with 300k+ miles. Recently, after a 400+ mile trip to the desert where all was good, it started to stall. Stalls out of nowhere after about 15 minutes of initial driving, then will not start for about another 15 minutes, then once started will stall again in 5 minutes or so...and so on. Just dies. Otherwise, engine runs just fine, idles fine etc. Replaced the fuel pump which seems to solve it - did a 90 mile drive after that, but then it started to stall again. Seems like it is temperature related, like something warms up and causes the stall. Smog? Carb? Any ideas? Thanks!

May want to check the fuel inlet to the carb.

What does the sight glass on the carb look like when it’s acting up?

If it has fuel when it’s acting up then you can probably eliminate fuel delivery problems.

Once it stalls, not getting a spark - gonna replace the igniter and coil. Found a used one at Cruiser Corps

If the Igniter doesn't fix it (they very rarely fail) follow the FSM troubleshooting procedure for testing the ignition system, coil, distributor pickup, etc.

Let us know what happens.

Yes, the fix worked - replace ignitor and coil purchased as a combo from Cruiser combo (easy to find coil, not so easy to find ignitor)- all good! Running great. Thanks for the help, all.
