I'm not sure if this is possible, but I'd like to keep just 1 kind of gear oil in my shop rather than 3...
the NV4500 specifies GL4 (not GL5) 75-90
the Toyota manual specifies Gl4 or GL5 90w for the t case
and GL5 90w for the diffs
Now here is where the opinions come in... I've heard from some people online that you can ONLY use Gl4 with the NV4500 as GL5 has more slippery additives that don't allow the synchros to grab, but other people that say that modern GL5s don't have that issue....Additionally, many gear oils say that they are both GL4 and GL5 certified...
Has anyone else cracked this nut before? I emailed Amsoil and all they gave me was the link to their manual trans fluid, and didn't expand on the rest of the question...
Has anyone ran dual rated Gl4&Gl5 75-90 in all 3 on their vehicle? Or something else in all 3? Thanks!
